Analytical reflection for oral presentation

Before the presentation, I started to visualise how I wanted the audience to understand the concept of our proposed solution. By breaking down the idea of our online app into simple and easy steps, I would be able to grasp their attention without making the idea seem overwhelming.

With no cue cards allowed, I first started to practice my presentations by looking at the technical report and making sure that I covered everything in my part. I would imagine being in front of the audience and at the same time, being aware if I used any filler words. As part of my learning process, I listened to presentations by TedTalks so as to learn how to better deliver my message to the audience.

Reflecting back on how I presented, I felt that it was a huge step-up from my polytechnic days. Personally, I felt a connection with the audience when I delivered the proposed solution as firstly, the problem that our team was tackling was relatable to the audience and that gave me the confidence in sharing our proposed solution. Secondly, I felt that the rehearsals prior to the presentations had been paid off because I was able to use as little filler words as possible during my presentation while maintaining a comfortable pace, I was able to remain loud and clear to the audience. However, if there was one thing to for me to work on, I felt that I could have added a form of storytelling to my part so as I to enhance the impact onthe audience.

In conclusion, the presentation was what I wanted to improve on at the start of the module and I felt that the opportunity given was definitely not wasted as I have learned so much more on how to better deliver a presentation.
